Steve Martin, Snake River Salmon Recovery Board Executive Director

 Mr. Martin received an AA from Walla Walla Community College and then a BA in biology, followed by an MS in fisheries from Eastern Washington University.  He worked as a fisheries biologist for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) from 1992 through 2001.  He transitioned to the private sector in 2002, providing consulting services to local governments, non-profit organizations, and landowners.   In 2005, Mr Martin became the first Executive Director of the Southeast Washington Snake River Salmon Recovery Board.  He held that position until 2017, when he was promoted to executive coordinator for the Governor’s Salmon Recovery Office.  After a couple of years in Olympia, he returned to WDFW for a short stint in 2023, then resumed his prior role as ED for the Snake River Salmon Recovery Board in 2024.    

Steve currently resides in Walla Walla with his wife, Jody.  They have four adult children and one grandson. He enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing, and having fun with his family.
